Founded in 1901, Herne Bay Hockey Club has a proud history of challenging for and winning league titles at a very competitive level.
We currently boast five strong Men's teams and two fiercely competitive Ladies teams, as well as a thriving junior section, all coached by our level 2 and level 3 coaches on a weekly basis.
Our Men's 1st and 2nd XI squads enjoy the luxury, and benefit from the knowledge and experience of being coached by a former England and Great Britain international.
We are committed to improvement both on and off the pitch, and are part of the ClubsFirst scheme, England Hockey Board's accreditation scheme to ensure clubs can demonstrate that they are working towards and above minimum operating standards.
At Herne Bay Hockey Club, hockey is not just a winter season sport. In the summer months we enter a strong mixed side into a competitive mixed summer league - hosted by Canterbury at their PoloFarm sports ground. There's not just mixed league action going on, we also enter a Ladies side into a summer league hosted by Gillingham Anchorians, and our Veterans side compete at a good level in Holcombe Hockey Clubs summer vets league.
The Social Side
We are proud hosts of the May Day hockey festival, a 3 day annual event that attracts clubs from all around the country.
We're a social club, and host many fund raising social events, organised in turn by each team at the club
We tour far and wide to challenge teams around the country and to establish good relations with other hockey clubs. Recent months have seen our 1st XI squad test their metal against teams from the north in a preseason tournament at Southport, and a select group of 1st XI players touring to Stourport to successfully bring home a 6-a-side tournament shield.
The Facilities
Herne Bay Hockey Club have their own Club House, with fully licensed bar, seating area with TV, male and female changing rooms with hot showers, and a fully kitted out kitchen - meaning you can look forward to a nice hot tea after your game.
Pitch side, Herne Bay Hockey Club are able to offer changing rooms with hot showers, ample parking and a good area to warm up.
Herne Bay Hockey Club is a successful and sociable club that welcomes anyone to join at any level and age.
