Come along to training

Herne Bay Hockey Club are committed to developing and growing as a club, both off the pitch and on it, and our training sessions are testament to that.

We have Level 2 and Level 3 qualified coaches, ably assisted by select personel from our 1st XI squad, that are committed to getting the best out of our members and honing each individual players skills.

Training sessions last for an hour and a half and typically consist of a thorough warm up, dynamic and static stretches, intense fitness drills, basic stick and ball skills, positional plays, shooting and tackling exercises, training matches and a warm down.

Sessions are split up in to ability groups, so no matter what your level, you will get the coaching and support you require to help you not only improve, but to also get the most out of each exercise.

A players performance and progression during these training sessions heavily influences the selection committees decision making process as to which team you play for in league games on Saturdays. So it is in a players best interest to attend training and to push themselves as hard as they can.

All juniors and under 18s are reminded that they must wear shin pads and gum shields at training aswell as on match days.

N.B. All members of our coaching team have passed CRB checks, and have undergone necessary First Aid training courses.
